TCMA Gala

Saturday, February 11

Omni Hotel, Downtown

The Travis County Medical Alliance is proud to present the 2012 Diamond Disco Ball Gala. The event will be held on Saturday, February 11 at the Downtown Omni. Join fellow physicians and their spouses in the "red carpet" experience.

In true “Studio 54” style, charity attendees should be prepared to mix, mingle, dine and dance. Enjoy the dessert bar and themed-specialty drinks, such as the Solid Gold-Tini, or Dance Fever-Rita. After bidding on favorite silent auction items, be sure to have your photo taken with some beautiful “bling” provided by Duncan and Boyd Jewelers.

Proceeds will allow the Alliance to pursue community service initiatives and continue its mission to improve health and wellness for Central Texans.

Join physicians and marketing staff on Thursday, February 16 at 7:30 am in the TCMS boardroom (2nd floor). CEO of Lexicon Medical Kristy Ryan will present Marketing and Referrals: How to Make the Most of Your Practice.

Ms. Ryan has more than 10 years of medical sales experience and a wealth of information from both the health care and marketing industries. She will discuss how to market a medical practice to gain physician referrals. Ms. Ryan will walk you through the necessary steps to prepare your visit to physician offices and how to follow up. There will also be a discussion on how to work with physicians and marketing representatives who visit your practice.

UT / OU Basketball Game

Wednesday, February 29

Frank Erwin Center

TCMS has reserved a block of seats for the UT vs OU men’s basketball game on Wednesday, February 29. Start time is slated for 8 pm at the Frank Erwin Center. Join your colleagues and friends in cheering for your favorite team.

Tickets are $15 each and must be picked up from the Society office at 4300 N Lamar by February 24.

Business of Medicine
February 23

TMA Thompson Auditorium

Join your colleagues for an interactive evening on Thursday, February 23 in the Texas Medical Association’s Thompson Auditorium, 401 W 15th at 6 pm as TCMS presents How to Effectively Communicate Through Social Media as a Physician.

Keynote speakers include:

• TMA’s Division of Communication Vice President Steve Levine will discuss the different social media options, why social media is important and the possible pitfalls for physicians.
• TCMS member Owen Winsett, MD will speak on how and why he uses Facebook and Twitter, and he will also discuss his blog.
• TCMS members Tim Gueramy, MD and Tracey Hass, DO, founders of the DocBookMD mobile app, will discuss how to use the app and what makes this communications tool HIPAA compliant.

After the presentations, the floor will be opened to a Q&A session. TCMS and DocBookMD staff will also be available to assist with further questions and/or help set up social media accounts.
