Physicians and Office Staff: On Wednesday, February 15 at 7:30 am in the TCMS oardroom (2nd floor), CEO of Lexicon Medical Kristy Ryan will present Marketing and Referrals: How to Make the Most of Your Practice.
Ms. Ryan has more than 10 years of medical sales experience and a wealth of information from both the health care and marketing industries. She will discuss how to market a
medical practice to gain physician referrals. Ms. Ryan will walk you through the necessary steps to prepare your visit to physician offices and how to follow up. There will also be a discussion on how to work with the physicians and marketing representatives who visit your practice.

Physician volunteers are needed to assist with the C.D. Doyle Student Clinic located at 7th and Trinity. The clinic was created by UTMB medical students with the support of community organizations such as Mobile Loaves and Fishes, Seton and Trinity Center.
Physicians are needed on Sunday from 1:30-5 pm. As many as 7-12 patients (all adults with general medical problems) are seen. The majority of patients are indigent community members who are, or have been, homeless. Students gain experience drawing labs as well as honing their interviewing and physical examination skills. RCL Portrait Studio will offer free photo sessions for TCMS members at the Society offices, 4300 N Lamar (Blood Center building) February 20-24.
Each session will take approximately 20 minutes. Members will be able to choose a photo at the session which will be used for the 2012 TCMS Pictorial Directory, TCMS website, DocBookMD phone app and can even replace the photo on your physician identification badge. Personal portraits will be available for purchase; no obligation to buy.

Practice Listings are back for the 2012 TCMS Pictorial Directory. For only $75, your practice listing – designed to enhance the use of the TCMS Pictorial Directory as a patient referral tool – can be seen year-round by over 2600 practicing physicians in the Central Texas area.
Let your professional colleagues know more about your practice – office locations, languages spoken, procedures performed, etc. The Practice Listings section will be located immediately after, and as a companion to, the “TCMS by Practice Code” section in the directory. You control the factual content of your listing within legal and ethical standards.

TCMS has reserved a block of seats for the UT vs OU men’s basketball game on ednesday, February 29. Start time is slated for 8 pm at the Frank Erwin Center. Join your colleagues and friends in cheering for your favorite team.
Tickets are $15 each and must be picked up from the Society office at 4300 N Lamar by February 24. Ten ticket limit.

The Travis County Chapter of the Professional Association of Health Care Office Management (PAHCOM) is an organization benefitting the medical community through educational networking of member office staff.
Programs are designed for office managers and other staff to obtain helpful information used on a daily basis in
running a physician office. Networking with other office managers and corporate sponsors rounds out the meeting each month.
PAHCOM invites physician office staff to attend a
meeting: 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on the third Wednesday of each month at Seton Medical Center, 1201 W 38th Street, McFadden Auditorium.

The 2012 Spring Medical Spanish Immersion Program at the Centro Intercultural de Querétaro in beautiful Querétaro, México is scheduled for May 19-27. Since 2001, the program, sponsored by the Travis County Medical Society, has promoted participants’ proficiency in both medical and general Spanish and enhanced knowledge of Hispanic culture.
Through the program, participants will enjoy Spanish classes (medical, general and special request) four days a week from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, Mexican cooking and folk dancing classes, fine arts events and a guided tour of local hospital and/or clinic. The program includes orientation of the city of Querétaro and two excursions outside of Querétaro with an overnight stay in Guanajuato and day trip to San Miguel de Allende. Also included are group transportation within Mexico, airport pick-up and delivery, full room & board at a home stay with local families and three meals a day.
Total cost for the Spring Medical Spanish Immersion Program is $965 per adult. Please note the price does not include airfare, and participants must have a valid passport. Program orientation meeting will be set for early May. To ensure your participation at this popular travel time, please observe the payment due dates with deposit of $165 set for March 23 and full payment due by April 20.
