North location! On Tuesday, May 17 at 6:00 pm in the Cedar Park Regional Medical Center Cafeteria, 1401 Medical Parkway, Cedar Park, Donna Kinney, TMA Director of Research and Data Analysis will present Do This Now: Health Care Reform Impact on Physician Practices.

 

Join us to learn more about the new health care reform bill. Many of the provisions of the bill are already in effect – or soon will be – and some present imminent compliance problems or business opportunities for physician practices.

 

The Texas Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

TMA designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

TCMS members are encouraged to attend TMA’s 144th annual conference held at the George R. Brown Convention Center, in Houston May 12-14. The House of Delegates,
boards, councils, and committees will be discussing key issues that affect Texas medicine and over 100 hours of CME will be offered. A great exhibit hall is also a part of the conference.


Friday’s keynote speaker is Jeff Goldsmith, PhD, president of Health Futures. One of the nation’s foremost health industry analysts, Dr. Goldsmith specializes in corporate strategy, trend analysis, health policy, and emerging technologies. The University of Texas Health Information Technology (Health IT) Program (http://www.biosci.utexas.edu/healthit) needs your assistance! Health IT is moving into a new Learning Center on campus that includes a lecture hall and the “Longhorn Clinic” – a mock clinic with 5 exam rooms and a home health room. Donations of medical office equipment including exam tables, a hospital bed, EKG machines, otoscopes, stethoscopes, and other miscellaneous items (such as eye charts and anatomy posters) are being requested to make the clinic look authentic.

The 2011 Trauma and Critical Care Conference will be held at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center June 2-3, 2011. The conference offers basic and cutting edge guidelines and technology for evaluation, diagnosis, and management of trauma patients. The curriculum is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of physicians, nurses, allied health, and pre-hospital personnel caring for critically ill and injured patient in rural, urban, and suburban hospitals.
