Spanish Meducation® is the practical medical Spanish program offered through the Travis County Medical Society since 1994. The 10-week program is designed for all health care professionals: physicians, pharmacists, nurses, therapists, social workers, technicians, emergency personnel, and support staff. Spanish Meducation classes develop beginning, intermediate, and advanced conversational skills in general Spanish with a focus on medical usage.

Spanish Meducation® Summer Classes

The summer session of Spanish Meducation®, the practical medical Spanish program offered through the Travis County Medical Society since 1994, starts on May 18. The 10-week session promotes beginning, intermediate and advanced communication in general Spanish with concentration on health care contexts. Listening and speaking skills are developed. Grammar takes a back seat. All handouts are included in the tuition cost. No textbook is required. Free booster make-up lessons are provided for Level I absences. TCMS members and their staff are invited to enroll. Tuition is $250 for new students and $230 for continuing students. One-week Medical Spanish Immersion Program

The next one-week medical Spanish immersion program is scheduled for

September 5 - 13, 2009 in the beautiful interior colonial city of Querétaro.

Since 2001, the Travis County Medical Society Spanish Meducation® director, Jill Snyder, Ph.D., has joined the Centro Intercultural de Querétaro to provide an immersion program that features daily classes in general and medical Spanish, home stay with local families, workshops in Mexican cooking and salsa dancing, cultural events, visits to area medical facilities, side trips to San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, and much more. The program cost for everything except the round-trip fare is $895 per adult and $795 per child. Registration with deposit is due on June 29.
