If you haven’t already ordered new prescription forms for certain controlled substances, you should do so soon in order to stay compliant with new state regulations that will take effect next year. Since September, the Texas State Board of Pharmacy has been issuing new official prescription forms that include advanced security features designed to help deter fraud. Because of the volume of orders, the new forms are currently taking about two months to be delivered, a board official told the Texas Medical Association.
Effective June 1, 2019, official prescription forms ordered prior to Sept. 1, 2018, will no longer be valid, the pharmacy board says. New security features on the forms include a unique control number on each form, thermochromic ink, and a watermark.
You can find more information on the forms, and how to comply with them on the pharmacy board’s website.
